On March 31, 2019, at Flywheel Arts Collective at 43 Main St., Easthampton, MA, CitySpace, in collaboration with Pioneer Valley Theatre News, Flywheel Arts Collective, and Easthampton City Arts, will hold a presentation and discussion about the future of Easthampton’s Old Town Hall. Local artists, performing arts organizations, creative organizational leaders, and interested community members are encouraged to attend and share feedback about CitySpace’s forthcoming plans. This event is free and open to the public but space is limited. Sign-up at CitySpaceEasthampton.org.

The Future of Performing Arts in Easthampton II is a sequel to a 2013 charrette, when members of the performing arts community tasked CitySpace to lead the restoration and planning for the 2nd floor of the Old Town Hall. Since 2013, CitySpace has laid the groundwork to restore the 2nd floor space. Architectural plans, cost estimates and strategic plans have been established. Prior to CitySpace restoring the 2nd floor, the organization is requesting feedback from the performing arts community on the developed business plan and how CitySpace’s next steps fits into the performing arts ecosystem of Easthampton and the Pioneer Valley.

“We have an amazing wealth of talent in the valley and I’m excited to get as much of it as possible into one room for a few hours. I think the more we can collaborate as individuals and companies the more successful we can all be,” says Nikki Beck, CitySpace board member who founded Pioneer Valley Theatre Newsletter over three years ago. She says, “I’m excited to be working towards a new space for productions and a building of community and collaborations around it.”

In addition to walking through plans for use, attendees have access to sign-up on CreativeGround, a regional arts directory from New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), connect with potential local collaborators and venues, and experience guided tours of the 2nd floor space.

Beck further explains, “We’re planning to have an open conversation in small groups to talk about the challenges we face and opportunities ahead and we also look forward to giving participants a chance to see the second floor space in person.”
