Formerly where Flywheel Arts Collective was located, CitySpace has updated the space with an accessible stage, new lighting, sound system, and amenities for performers and event makers. Following a soft opening, CitySpace is making additional updates to the space before fully opening to the public.

Like so many organizations, CitySpace has adapted from the impacts due to COVID. After several months of collective discussions, the long-term tenant, Flywheel Arts Collective, did not renew its lease in the Old Town Hall citing impacts from the pandemic on the performing arts industry. After gathering feedback from the regional community and our artist advisory committee over the past 6 months, CitySpace is opening an incubator space in the first floor hall that will be for rent at reasonable rates to artists in the community who need to rehearse, hold community events, and stage performances. In the coming months, CitySpace will be working to roll out vital artistic programming, empowering Western Massachusetts artists with a place to create, connect with the public, and earn revenue.  Opening the first floor space and managing it considers the long term viability of the organization and its restoration of the future 350-seat flexible and accessible performing arts and community space on the 2nd floor.

CitySpace invites creative possibility and meaningful connections across communities of Western Massachusetts. For artists, the organization offers a platform for experimentation. For audiences, it provides opportunities to engage with art and artists to develop critical dialogues. For the community, we safeguard the longevity and character of Old Town Hall.
